| Experiencing the world in
a personal and subjective way has allowed me to realize more fully that
world in which I live. My camera, as my medium of expression, gives me
the opportunity to look into that world and to discover the inter-connection
of all things around me which are taken so much for granted. It is this
awareness that is the cornerstone of my work, hence my use and adherence
to traditional and classical methods. I explore wider vistas seeking out
a peripheral aspect of that point of view to offer it as an entry point
to that part of the world daily passed through and lived in.
My primary subjects are architecture and landscape. Architecture because it embodies the inherent beauty of geometry as projected through the marriage of the many and varied uses of form, shape and dimension with light and all elements of the surrounding environment. Our structures stand as testaments and monuments to who we are and where we have arrived as a society/culture. Landscape, because it has come to mean more to me than a pictorial representation of pastoral scenery. It is that which sustains us physically, emotionally and spiritually. I record specific areas that are in danger of being annexed or consumed by ever expanding urban needs and our need to imprint our ever changing perceptions and definitions of beauty on the world around us. I now work exclusively with
a large format camera system with my preferred medium being black and white.
Film development and all printing is done by my own hand. All my work is
produced on high quality Fibre Papers and archival toned with Selenium
and/or Gold toners for enhanced effect and permanence.
